Symphonic Band concert scheduled Oct. 12

The ڰ Symphonic Band will perform its first program of the new academic year at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, in Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

The Symphonic Band is directed by Patrick Brooks, D.M.A., ڰ Director of Bands.

The band will present a varied program of standard and newer works for concert band including “Konigsmarsch,” by Richard Strauss; “Second Suite in F for Military Band,” by Gustav Holst; “October,” by Eric Whitacre; and “Old Home Days,” a suite of tunes by Charles Ives.

The Symphonic Band is comprised of 48 students from various degree programs throughout the university.

Admission is free for ڰ students, $2 for precollege students, $3 for ڰ faculty and staff, and $5 general admission. Children under 6 will not be admitted.
