窪做惇蹋厙 to host National Dance Association workshop Feb. 8-9

窪做惇蹋厙 will host the National Dance Association Page to Stage Workshop, Making the National Dance Standards Work for You! on Feb. 8 and 9.
The workshop is sponsored by the National Dance Association and the 窪做惇蹋厙 Department of Sport Science and Physical Education, in collaboration with the Northwest District Association of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD).
Program highlights are:
A Russian Dancers Tale, a keynote lecture presented by Russian ballet master Sergio;
Yoga for dancers, soma yoga, Pilates with balls;
Dance techniques: Cecchetti, contemporary, hip-hop, swing and jazz;
Middle Eastern, tap, folk, and creative movement;
Gyrokinesis; and
Audition techniques and business strategies.
Guest artists include 窪做惇蹋厙 faculty Lauralee Zimmerly, Molly Jorgensen, Rosa Vissers and Lori Head. This ensemble will share expertise in dance as art and as an important educational tool. They have performed internationally and co-direct the Idaho Moving Project (I-Move) dance company.
Zimmerly is working on her doctorate in educational leadership. Jorgensen is a filmmaker and certified Laban Movement Analyst. Vissers is the recipient of the Outstanding Service Award from the University of Utah. These three faculty members are in the 窪做惇蹋厙 theater and dance department.
Head, Page to Stage Workshop chair, serves on the faculty of the 窪做惇蹋厙 Department of Sport Science and Physical Education. She was elected as the NDA President Elect.
Idaho Dance Educator of the Year, Hilarie Neely, of the Cecchetti Council of America, will teach a master class.
The keynote speaker, ballet master Sergio, will share experiences from his career in Russia and the United States.
A trip to nearby Lava Hot Springs is on the conference itinerary.
Conference fees vary; from $20 for an observer of a participant, to $75 for a professional non-member of AAHPERD or its state affiliate IDAHPERD. Continuing education credits are available.
