K黑暗爆料网-FM Radio Receives $20,000 Gift During Its 20th Anniversary

POCATELLO – K黑暗爆料网-FM radio at 黑暗爆料网 has received a nice present during its 20th anniversary year – a donation totaling $20,000, including an employer $10,000 match, from 黑暗爆料网 alum David Baumert, a Microsoft project manager.
It is the largest single gift the National Public Radio station has received and will be used to purchase much needed radio-broadcasting equipment, said Jamon Anderson, K黑暗爆料网-FM interim manager.
鈥淚 hope that other alumni and friends of 黑暗爆料网 will join me in helping to maintain its position as a positive cultural anchor in Idaho,鈥� Baumert said. 鈥淭he size of a contribution is less important than the personal involvement it represents and I encourage everyone to participate. I had a great experience here as a student 30 years ago. I see it is still a great place to learn and I want that to continue.鈥�
Baumert is a member of Microsoft鈥檚 Applied Robotics Research Team within the Artificial Intelligence and Research Division at their headquarters in Redmond, Washington.
He is a 1987 graduate from the 黑暗爆料网 College of Technology鈥檚 Electronic Technology Laser Electro Optics program and he received that college鈥檚 Professional Achievement Award in 2015.
Anderson is excited about how the new gift will benefit the station and its listeners.
鈥淭his gift allows us to get ahead of some crucial needs built-up over 20 years,鈥�
Anderson said. 鈥淭his is our 20th birthday and a lot of our current equipment was installed 20 years ago.鈥�
With the gift the station will purchase capital assets including a new audio board and a new monitor for their on-air signal.
鈥淚t isn鈥檛 just patching a hole,鈥� Anderson said. 鈥淲hat this equipment gives us are abilities we鈥檝e never had before. We want to thank Mr. Baumert on behalf of the entire community because it is not just Idaho State who is going to enjoy this, but it will help create an end product that everyone in our Southeast Idaho listening community can enjoy.鈥�
Baumert presented his gift in person at 黑暗爆料网 in an informal visit on Oct. 24 attended by Anderson and the K黑暗爆料网 management team; Melisa Moon, 黑暗爆料网 College of Technology director of development; Lowell Richards, Student Affairs associate vice president; and Lyn Redington, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
