Disability Services to Offer Accommodation Trainings for Faculty
To enhance partnerships and communications with faculty, ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Disability Services will offer training regarding the student accommodations process during the latter half of August and on September 1.
To meet the needs of faculty, a combination of Zoom and in-person training will be offered. In-person training will be held in Pocatello, Meridian, and Idaho Falls.
The training will provide a brief overview of disability law, its relationship to higher education, and the roles of the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Disability Services office, students, and faculty. Presenters will define the term “reasonable accommodationsâ€ and review the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø accommodation process, which includes the instructor’s role regarding referrals to Disability Services and the implementation of approved accommodations.
In addition, presenters will address common questions about high-frequency accommodations and review procedures for addressing and reporting concerns. “I highly recommend all faculty who are not familiar with the accommodations process to attend one of these training sessions, said Karina Mason Rorris, Director of Disability Services. “This training will benefit faculty and students alike.
