ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Rural Health Hero Nominees and Awards

In partnership with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø recently sponsored the Idaho Rural Health Association's 7th Annual Meeting and Awards Reception with a focus on "Cross-Cultural Awakenings."
Participating units include Kasiska Division of Health Sciences, Area Health Education Center, College of Health, School of Nursing, Department of Community and Public Health and the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Community Health Worker program, who were all sponsors of the event.
Awards were given in four categories, with multiple ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø nominees and one awardee selected in each:
- Social Justice and Health Equity
- Idaho Rural Health Hero Awardee: Holly Karthchner, INCLUDE program, College of Arts and Letters
- Other nominees:
- Dr. Helen Cathleen Tarp, Spanish for Health Professions
- Carmen House, Speech Language Pathology
- Dr. Mary Nies, College of Health
- Cross-Cultural Health and Healing nominees
- ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Community Health Worker Training Academy Team
- Outreach to Tribal Nations nominees
- Dr. Rex Force, Vice President for Health Sciences and Senior Vice Provost
- ONE Health-Interconnectedness nominees
- Dr. Colden Baxter, Biology
Nominees were invited to attend the event and were presented a certificate honoring them in their respective category. The event was interwoven with tribal activities that included food, drumming, singing and dancing.
