Confetti and Charged Rod
Brief Description
This is a simple demonstration of induced charge. An acrylic rod is charged by rubbing it with a silk cloth, and when the rod is held near the confetti, it will jump up to the rod due to the induced charge.
Materials
Acrylic Rod, Silk Cloth, and Confetti.
Performing the Demo
Place a pile of confetti on the table where everyone can see. Then rub the silk cloth along the acrylic rod to build up some charge. Lower the rod to the confetti until it starts jumping towards it.
