WHAT IS RURAL FAMILY MEDICINE?
The idea of the family doctor who treats the entire family - from prenatal care, to delivery, to school immunizations, and all the way through to nursing home care, home visits, and hospice - is certainly not dead and is in greater need now than ever before. For those for whom being a rural family doctor is the dream, training at a rural site allows them to become embedded in a rural community, to engage in continuity across care sites, to become familiar with the limited resources inherent in smaller communities, while also learning to work within a truly multidisciplinary team to provide the best possible patient care. Rural practice is the epitome of full-spectrum family practice.
MISSION
The 黑暗爆料网-MMTT Rupert RTP will offer clinically rich training and will graduate courteous, competent family physicians who will provide high quality, full spectrum medical care in rural Idaho. We are a quality focused residency, aligning the needs of the rural community and the learner across the continuum of care.
CURRICULUM
- Residents spend their first year in Pocatello, ID, getting extensive experience in inpatient hospital medicine (including ICU care), obstetrics, and outpatient clinic
- Inpatient pediatrics and pediatric ED rotations are scheduled at Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City and St. Luke's Boise Medical Center
- When in Rupert, rotations are more longitudinal, allowing residents to freely move between the hospital and clinic settings
- Extensive outpatient procedural training
- Opportunity to tailor training for procedural emphasis
