Shawn Bascom

Originally from southern California, Shawn has called Idaho home since 1992. He and his wife have three sons and a daughter.
Shawn discovered his passion for international education while attending ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø and has been part of the ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø community since 1999. In his current role as Associate Director of ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø and International Services, he is dedicated to helping international students succeed in their pursuit of higher education.
His professional experience spans international admissions, study abroad advising, and F-1 and J-1 student, faculty, and scholar advising. Outside of work, Shawn enjoys traveling, music, and spending quality time with his family.
Abdul "Khalil" Azizi
International Faculty and Scholars Advisor

Khalil was born and raised in Afghanistan. After completing high school, he began working with the United Nations in Kabul. In 2007, he came to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø to continue his education.
Before joining the International Programs Office in 2016, Khalil held various positions across several departments at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø. He earned his Master’s degree in Political Science from ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø.
In his current role as International Faculty and Scholar Advisor, Khalil supports ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø’s international employees and visiting scholars with immigration and cultural adjustment matters.
Khalil values the power of higher education and believes everyone should have the opportunity to pursue it. Outside of work, he enjoys Idaho’s great outdoors, reading, coffee, and spending quality time with his family.
Renata Schoen
International Student Advisor

Bachelor's degree, Psychology
Renata earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø and has worked in higher education for the past five years. Before joining ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø, she served as Executive Assistant to the President of Masaryk University in the Czech Republic and held several administrative and research positions supporting academic initiatives.
Renata is passionate about international higher education and believes that global exchange is essential in today’s interconnected world. She finds great fulfillment in helping students navigate both their academic and personal journeys.
When not planning her next adventure, Renata enjoys walks, photography, good food, and great company.
