Packing Up and Moving Your Course

Dear Faculty,
As we continue our transition from Moodle to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Canvas, it’s time to move from decluttering to packing up and moving your course materials. Think of this stage as carefully packing your belongings for a move to ensure nothing is left behind and everything is organized for easy unpacking.
Packing Up and Moving Your Course:
- Download the Packing Up Your Moodle ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Course Checklist: Just like a moving checklist helps you keep track of all your items, the will ensure you don’t miss any crucial steps.
- Move all Instructor Videos in Moodle to Panopto: Videos will quickly consume Canvas’s limited storage space. By hosting and managing your videos in , you free up storage space in your course.
- Create and download a backup of your Moodle ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø course: Review .
- If you have a large question bank (100+), use two Moodle ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø backups.
- Course Content: Start by creating a backup of your main course content.
- Quizzes and Question Bank: Take time to in Moodle so you only import the questions you need.
- If you have a large question bank (100+), use two Moodle ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø backups.
- Import Course Content: The Moodle backup file will import directly into Canvas.
- If you created a course content and a quizzes and question bank backups separately:

- Attend Curious About Canvas: Join the ITRC for open office hours to discuss ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Canvas and the transition. Every Monday and Thursday at 2 pm via Zoom.
- Join a Wednesday Webinar: Webinars are focused on the steps to pack, move, and unpack your course. Register for a Wednesday Webinar.
By following these steps, you can ensure a smooth transition to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø Canvas and enjoy peace of mind knowing your courses are well-organized and ready for the upcoming semester.
